DECALS CRAFTED AND DESIGNED IN CALIFORNIA USA
To install a car graphic,
clean the surface thoroughly, position the graphic with masking tape, and use a squeegee to apply it. For larger graphics, use the "hinge method" by taping the top of the graphic to create a hinge, peeling back half the backing, and squeegeeing from the center outwards. For a smoother application, you can also use the "wet method" by spraying the surface and the adhesive with a soapy water solution to allow for repositioning before squeegeeing out the liquid.
Step 1: Prepare the surface
-
Thoroughly wash and dry the area where the graphic will be applied.
-
Clean the surface with a solvent like isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove any remaining dirt, grease, or wax, and wipe it completely dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
Step 2: Position and secure the graphic
-
With the backing still on, position the graphic to determine the final placement.
-
Use masking tape along the top edge of the graphic to create a "hinge" that holds it in place.
-
For larger graphics, it's helpful to tape a long piece of tape across the entire top of the graphic to act as a secure hinge.
Step 3: Apply the graphic (Hinge Method)
-
Remove the small pieces of tape that were holding the corners.
-
Peel the backing paper off the graphic, starting from one side and pulling it down to the hinge tape.
-
Starting from the center hinge, use a squeegee to smooth the graphic onto the surface, working your way outwards from the center to push out air bubbles and excess water.
-
Remove the hinge tape and the remaining backing paper, then repeat the squeegeeing process on the other half.
Step 4: Finish the installation
-
Carefully peel off the transfer tape from the graphic, pulling it back on itself at a sharp angle.
-
Continue to squeegee any remaining bubbles or water from the center outwards.
-
Allow the graphic to dry completely, which may take up to 24 hours before driving.
